Lush Pictures: Castlepoint

An hour's drive from Lush Places, is the tiny settlement of Castlepoint.

It's a place of high drama. There is the lighthouse, now over 100 years old, on the point; the mighty, imposing castle-shaped rock that gives the settlement its name; a grand reef shaped by centuries of ocean breakers. There is a single shop. There are fishing boats resting on the sand, and lonely line fishermen chancing it from the dangerous edges of the cliffs. There are proper 1950s bachs, and sweeping views north and south. And there is the wind, lots and lots of wind.
